Welcome to the Wakefield Inn & Restaurant website. Thank you for stopping by!
We are quickly heading into Spring and fast approaching our 3 year anniversary of owning the Inn! We finished a pretty long list of Winter projects including refinishing the Dining Room floors, patching and painting the front Hall and Spiral Staircase and we had a new ceiling installed in the Thompson Room. Bring on the flowers and all of the outside projects. The Wakefield Inn & Restaurant was recently featured in the November 26, 2014 Carroll County Independent and the Granite State News: Christmas at Wakefield Corner - Historic Walking Tour.
The Wakefield Inn was featured in the May Edition of New Hampshire Magazine: Springtime fun along Route 153 | May 2015 The Wakefield Inn & Restaurant, nestled in the picturesque Village of Wakefield Corner, is one of 27 historic homes, in our neighborhood, on the United States National Register of Historic Places. The Wakefield Inn & Restaurant, formerly known as the Spiral Staircase Inn and The Elmwood Inn dates back to 1804. The Inn was originally built as a home for Seaman William Frost who wanted to own the largest, tallest (3 stories) and grandest home in Wakefield. In 1890 the home was converted to an Inn where guests, for many years, were transported to the Inn by stage coach. Wakefield Corner was considered the center of town because of the 6 stage coach lines and in 1895 the railroad began providing transportation for the Inn's guests from Wakefield's 5 train stations.
The home features an amazing flying spiral staircase, the original stage coach door, a 3 sided fireplace with beehive oven in the dining room, a very large picture window overlooking the picturesque back gardens and a lovely wrap around porch where guests can relax and enjoy a wonderful view of the village.
Today, the Inn features six bed & breakfast rooms, each with a private bath along with a full service restaurant run by Chef Christina Nicastro. The Nicastro Family and our entire staff look forward to extending their hospitality to you and your family on your next visit.
