About Wakefield Inn and Restaurant
The Wakefield Inn & Restaurant, formerly known as the Spiral Staircase Inn and the Elmwood Inn dates to 1804. The Inn was originally built for Seaman William Frost who wanted to own the largest tallest (3 stories) and grandest home in Wakefield Corner.
In 1890, the home was converted to an Inn, where guests, for many years, were transported by stage coach. Wakefield Corner was considered the center of town because of 6 stage coach lines and in 1895 the railroad began providing transportation for the Inn's guests from Wakefield's 5 train stations. Warm Hospitality with an Ideal Location
The Inn is your ideal base to explore and enjoy the spectacular beauty and tranquility of the unspoiled countryside of New England.
